Huckleberry

Huckleberry was born in May of 2024. He is the youngest dog on the farm. He was brought to be my companion dog but Mittenwool, the Anatolian Shepherd, unknowingly to us, trained him to be a herder! Truth be told he as herded the horse one day when they meandered through a gate that was left open! We question the story ourselves but our lovely neighbor from across the street witnessed the whole event: One little golden retriever turning three horses away from the road and chasing them through the woods and back to the barn. The larger farm dogs keep their distance from the horses and we have never pressed them to be friends. But Huckleberry follow me around day after day and cautiously became their “friend.” I have not doubt that in a few years he will run alongside us when we ride in the fields and trails!
